 SM ''UC-96'' was a German Type UC III minelaying submarine or U-boat in the German Imperial Navy ((ドイツ語:Kaiserliche Marine)) during World War I.

 The Type UCIII submarines were improved versions of the preceding Type UCII class minelayers. They displaced  surfaced and  submerged. The submarines were  long, had a beam of  and a draft of . They had a diving depth of .〔Gröner, p. 62〕
 For surface running, the boats were powered by two  diesel engines, each driving one propeller shaft. When submerged each propeller was driven by a  electric motor.  The boats were armed with three  torpedo tubes, one on the stern and two on the bow, carried a total of seven torpedoes. The UCIII class had six  mine tubes that could carry 14 UC200 mines. They were also armed with a single  SK L/45 deck gun.〔
